We are so very proud of all of the CC-ISJ Summer Music Camp students who attended camp three days a week and practiced very hard for the recital. Congratulations to Music Director Leo Colon and Choir Director Willie Jones Jr. for nurturing the many talents of these students. The recital was a brilliant success, showcasing the amazing progress students made in such a short time. We welcomed the families and friends who cheered on our musicians. We look forward to continuing music lessons in the fall. Stay tuned for videos of the recital.
On Saturday August 24th Iglesia de San Juan hosted an International Food and Yard Sale fundraiser. There was delicious home cooked food and many items for sale at the yard sale. It was a beautiful day and we welcomed many people from the neighborhood visiting us for the first time. A huge thanks to EVERYONE who cooked, cleaned, managed the yard sale, served food, and packed up the few things left at the end of the day. The money raised from this fundraiser goes to the important ministries of the church, in service to the community. God Bless all who participated.
Our End of Summer Music Recital will be held on Saturday August 24th from 2pm to 4pm. Please join us! We are very proud of our music students and our Music Director Leo Colon and Choir Director Willie Jones Jr. for all they have accomplished.
Today we celebrated the high school graduation of Chidimma Nzerem and blessed her as she prepares to go off to college at Columbia University in New York City. Her family hosted a wonderful party in her honor, with a delicious Nigerian meal and music and dancing in the parish hall after the worship service. We are all very proud of her and keep her in our prayers. Here are a few pictures of the celebration.
Together with his family, we blessed and celebrated Erick Monegro as he received his first Holy Communion.
Lord Jesus Christ, in the Sacrament of the Eucharist you left us a sign of your limitless love for us. Thank you for giving Erick the opportunity to experience this love in receiving the Sacrament. May your presence in the Eucharist keep him ever fortified in faith, and filled with love for God and neighbor.
The program is going very well and filled, so enrollment is closed for the remainder of the summer. Please check back with us in the fall for openings for Saturday music lessons.

On Sunday, June 2nd the congregation of Christ Church/Iglesia de San Juan celebrated World Environment Day by bringing the Eucharist outdoors and blessing the new ministry: Beautification and Care of the Earth of Christ Church/ISJ and Surroundings, led by Violet McGrath and Brian Manning. Flowers given by the youth from money collected during the Boston Shine day were planted. The celebration of the Eucharist included a Native American prayer with flute and drums. Youth who were confirmed on June 1st also participated in the service and were recognized at coffee hour. Click on the photo to see the slide show.
Three of our youth — Favour, Amara, and Christian — were confirmed by Bishop Tom and Bishop Bud at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Rev. Lisa and Senior Warden Pat Henderson presented the candidates. Father John and proud family members were there to support our youth. Please congratulate Favour, Amara, and Christian for all of their hard work in confirmation class and their maturing faith life.
